Kundalini - the power behind sex
The story of a seed
Buried in rich dark soil, a seed lies passive. Its shell, a hard crust of a thing, looks dead. Watered by spring rains, dried by the spring sun, the seed remains still, enveloped in silence. Day and night there is no sound, no movement coming from the little round casing, now showing signs of age. Days pass into weeks and still there is no change. The seed is dying, its vitality withdrawing to the core. Weeks become a month, then more weeks pass and the tissue starts to dissolve. Death and decay are moving through the seed.
Suddenly a crackling sizzle leaps into life. Across the inner spaces of electrons and central suns something moves which did not move before. It cuts a path of exquisite alertness across the decaying tissue and in its wake there follows peace - an expanding, wonderful peace. From outside, in the dark heavy soil, the seed appears totally still. The barely perceptible trembling goes unnoticed. There is no evidence of the movement going on inside. No one sees the subtle electricity that jumps from nerve to nerve like lightening through the body of the seed, now in the throes of germination. No one hears the cries of pain and confusion as a mighty power pours itself into the little body through an opening in the heart. There is no one to witness the imbuing of an invisible fire, no one to feel the agony - and then the ecstasy - as cellular walls are ruptured by a heightened sensitivity. And there is no one to share in the overwhelming joy that washes through the soul of the seed as, wave after wave, Something overflows the little heart until it threatens to burst its boundaries. No one can know because the process is secret and private. Hidden.
For days the waves continue, ebbing and flowing like a living breath, rending the old structure from stem to stern with a deep and profound sensitivity over which flows something new, something pure and holy. On and on it comes, fresh and clean and ebullient, rising, swirling and expanding, light and bright and happy - happier than any happiness that can be known on earth - and finally the joy can be contained no longer and a tiny hair-line crack appears in the outer casing. Tomorrow a sprout will show and soon it will pierce the top soil into the light of day. Yet the traumatic experience that the seed went through will never be known. It will pass away, down through the hallways of time to be lost in the majesty of eternity as all things do, because - well - because it’s only a seed.
The story of a human being
A seed has no capacity to tell us what is happening to it. It is only a seed, a tiny little thing lost in the soil. But what if the same thing were to happen to you? Would you communicate it to someone? How would you explain it? Would anyone believe you? How would they know you were not suffering from illusions? You might say, “Ridiculous! Human beings don’t germinate!” But you would be wrong. Because human beings DO germinate and there are stories on record to prove it - stories that date back to the beginning of recorded history that tell us of wonderful, transcendental experiences that burst all bounds of normalcy which include joy, visions of light and angels, grandiose feelings of holiness and of a cosmic order that defies description. And it has happened to common folk like you and me, spontaneously, without warning. In eastern scriptures it is called Kundalini. In the West it is called the Holy Spirit. This is the power behind sex and it is awesome.
In most people kundalini drips up the spine from its home nestled in the tail bone, the root chakra, on the etheric plane. We can activate it through physical sex and when it explodes into orgasm it is the ultimate experience for the physical body. It wash us clean and realigns our mental, emotional and spiritual energies. Orgasms are healing. Kundalini is a spiritual force anchored in the center of the body. When the orgasm happens the energy goes up the body as far as a person's consciousness allows it to go. Mystery schools teach individuals how to "lift" this power up through the chakras to the top of the head to reconnect with their own divine source, God, and thereby succumb to a mystical experience (bliss, rapture, ecstasy) which is the goal of a spiritual life.
Few people realize that a very powerful, full-bodied orgasm can do the same thing. Kundalini is the power behind all of creation. It is a mystery that cannot be explained. It is the power that makes babies and it breaks through concrete for a tiny blade of grass seeking the sun. Being a non-physical power, scientists cannot prove that kundalini exists other than when it is suddenly gone, as in death. This is the power behind our sexuality and it behooves us to explore it for ourselves, with our own bodies. What is it that causes the tremblings in our bodies, the shakings, the trances, the visions of God or Goddess, the extraordinary sensations of peace, love, light and profound revelations? This could be someone in the throes of orgasm, or someone in the throes of a mystical experience we call rapture.
Sex: Humanity's greatest gift
There has been very little written about the human orgasm as it relates to the kundalini. It is humanity's greatest gift, and it has been with us from the beginning - a gift from the Creator to remind us of our spiritual home. Why hasn't sex moved mountains for us in the same way that it did for the seed in the story above? Perhaps it is because nobody ever told us about it. Knowledge is empowering. Lack of knowledge keeps us in ignorance. Since kundalini is made of divine love, love activates it. If we use enough love during our sexual encounters, meaning appreciation, gratitude, reverence, kindness and such, we will begin to notice our sexual experiences improving. There will be more connection with the other person. More WOWness. There is a divine being within every individual, and it is through recognizing that divinity that Tantra is practiced. As we open our minds and hearts to love, we open the network of tiny conduits over which kundalini flows into the physical body. There is a fine, delicate, hair-thin webbing on the etheric plane that covers the entire physical body. This webbing is called meridians in the English language. In Sanskrit the word for web or net is "tantra". When love is focused upon during loving encounters and also during solitary meditation , these delicate channels open and flood with bliss because kundalini responds to love.
We have been raised in a culture of defensiveness, violence and protection, with many painful memories stuck in our muscles, blood and tissues unable to be released. One of the best ways to heal a body of its past traums is through loving sex. Not "just sex" but nourishing, healing, warm loving sex. The love is the key. Choose a sex partner wisely. A loving person is a healing agent that helps cleanse a body of the past. The kundalini, which is actually the holy spirit referred to in religious texts, is the creative Mother force of the universe. It is found in all sentient beings. When released to flow freely it can heal in an instant. But even though an orgasm releases kundalini into the body, it can't go very far if there are closed areas. Then it is dammed up and blocked from doing what it most wants to do, which is to flow upwards to the heart. It is up to each person to learn how to clear himself or herself so that healing balm will go further and deeper and effect changes in the body.
The kundalini is the power of love, but human beings are not creatures of love. Love can move mountains. It is the force behind sex which is why sex is so important to us. But sex is not a technique so much as it is the movement of love from heart to heart that opens the meridians. That is the secret of Tantra. It is a web of life that criss-crosses everywhere - through the body, the mind, the emotions, the spirit, trees, water, rocks and inanimate objects like the telephone or a chair. This is what holds everything together in spite of our blocking it, resisting it and warring against it.
Celibacy by-passes the body
Kundalini is mysterious when it happens to a monk or mystic who is non-sexual, because it goes up the spine and out the top of the head, providing a visionary rapture experience. But most people have a sex life, and so they re-route the power of kundalini from the spine into the sexual organs. Focus on the genitals reroutes the life force to that area, producing orgasmic sensations. When we stop focusing on the genitals and circulate love to the heart and elsewhere in the body, different sensations are experienced. Awesome sensations. When kundalini flows through the body under conscious direction, earth man becomes a divine being, much more attuned to his natural heritage. Tantra masters teach people how to circulate this love energy consciously throughout the body, as the picture above represents. Prayer and ceremony is an important part of Tantra.
Kundalini will pierce veils for us if we circulate respect, love and gratitude during our sexual lovemaking, in contrast to the popular use of the gutter talk during sex. It takes practice to change the way you think. There is more to life's experience than the narrow focus on the physical. Every person who has had a powerful orgasm can attest to that. Where do they go? There are no words, except "Oh, God!" We are carried beyond our normal world to a place beyond. The physical body must be made ready through cleansings. The mind must be prepared by turning it upward to noble qualities. There is much to learn.
The bliss component in orgasm
A few open-minded scientists have picked up on the relation of kundalini and sex but the key ingredients of sacred love has not been identified yet. In the silent laboratories of universities and privately funded corporations, research into kundalini is under way. Teachings of the ancient mystery schools remained secret for centuries because of sex. The power behind sex is too great. It is a galactic-sized super nova to Earth-sized humans, so humans need to be prepared. Monks spend years and lifetimes in training to prepare themselves for the opening and raising of kundalini in their bodies. They had to remain celibate to prevent the leaking of kundalini outward into sex, thus diluting the power. Religion has kept us away from sex for such a long time that a thick, dark, dense cloud hangs over us concerning sex. We don't know about kundalini!
There have always been those who knew the truth - that sex and the divine are meant to be united to produce the rapturous sensations we all long for. But those in the know have been careful about it. Finally, however, this information is coming out through the broad distribution of the Internet. But be careful. There is a lot of entrapping disinformation out there. Love is simple. The knowledge about love is simple. It does not require volumes of mental calculations or geometry to understand. Love is the heart-felt quality of kindness that feels natural and good. Once that is realized the lid will come off about kundalini and understanding will flow.
The human germination
The human being goes through the same process that the seed goes through in germination. The only difference is the human being does not grow a new appendage, like a green sprout that grows into a flower. He grows a new consciousness. The power of kundalini surges through him shedding light all around, similar to the experience of orgasm. It floods and breaks through limiting beliefs and attitudes spreading oneness and bliss all around. The human being grows a new awareness from this internal power that sings triumphantly through him, for that is what he was made for. (Pardon the use of the male "him". It's just easier.) He is reborn. The body becomes more refined. The behavior more kind. The senses more sensitive. The nervous system more psychic. Healings of physical disorders are common. Kundalini feeds mankind with inspiration, with light, with sparks of revelation that exceed the day-to-day intelligence of humankind. It is part of the plan.
At the heart of virtually all of the world’s religions lies the suggestion that man has the capacity to grow beyond himself. The scriptures report communion with angels and even the Creator itself. In the past when kundalini activated, it was sometimes called the second birth in the Christian religion. It was called Samadhi in the Hindru religion. It suggests that man may experience paradise right here on earth. He does not have to die to achieve it. There are references to a consuming fire that does not destroy, to a great love that heals, to a tree of life whose branches run with the juices of eternal life - the human nervous system and the spark of the synapses.
Kundalini activation: being born again
There are references to dying to the old and being born to the new, and to a mysterious power of rejuvenation that can mend a broken body even if the pieces have been cut up and destroyed by fire. There are consistent references to this mysterious something poking and pushing mankind in the direction of being more loving, more kind, more patience, more tolerant, more just, more noble, more truthful, more humble. These teachings have remained as the carrot at the end of the stick to evolving mankind. They are the stuff of legend and they do not go away. They have been lumped together under the label of religion, but they are escaping now into the broad arena of public knowledge.
And now science is starting to get involved. Perhaps it will do a better job of proving the relationship of sex, the mystical experience, kundalini, samadhi and being born again. But science should be cautioned not to cut it up into pieces for analysis. The knowledge is heart-based. It will reveal itself only from a unified wholesome perspective. Science must grow up to meet this new knowledge at a higher level if it is to find the answers it is seeking, and not pull it down to its own size. Science must find ways to measure the whole, the holy, which includes nobility of character because this is a new element and requires an expanded consciousness. The mystical experience is a revelation of unity and out of it blossoms the virtues. To the scientist who understands this will be revealed the proper path to follow.
There are many people today who have experienced the kundalini activation and are even now undergoing a transformation of consciousness. But the stories lie buried deep within the individual in order to keep it safe from the judgment and condemnation of others. These are the enlightened ones who one day will suddenly surprise us by coming out with new knowledge never heard of before.
